Snow White

Ironically, the best photograph I’ve ever taken of a Snowy Egret was in a place where it never snows. A close-up, from the Dominican Republic.

Both of these shots were taken when my wife Julie and I meandered down Fox Creek Trail in Wisconsin, where the creek steps down to the St. Croix River.  The shot position was quite similar for both photographs, although there is a large tree bridge in the more recent shot that did not exist back in 2010.

Are you running in circles or asleep at the wheel?

This particular photograph comes from a park in downtown Chicago, not far from John Hancock Tower.  After my job assignment was finished there, I took a walk and came across someone biding time on the park bench as a half dozen runners paced just a few feet away.  It seemed a good visual representation for the way so many of us are running in circles, trying to keep up with the velocity of life… while others seem to be only half awake as life passes by.
